Prop 8 Ruled Unconstitutional

August 9, 2010

On August 4, 2010, Proposition 8 was found to be unconstitutional in an historic ruling by Judge Vaughn Walker. This ruling takes us closer to a time when LGBT people and families will be treated with dignity and equality under the law. It is also a powerful reminder to us of what can happen when people act boldly in the name of justice.

The story of this case began a long time ago and is far from over. The next few years promise to be interesting and dynamic ones on the grassroots and legal fronts. As the case moves through the appeals process, we will keep you posted about key developments and opportunities for action.

We hope this news has brought you joy. We are certainly grateful for the chance to have worked with so many of you on efforts to achieve equality, including the No on 8 campaign and the amicus brief that TPP submitted in support of the plaintiffs in Perry v. Schwarzenegger.
